Twistlock Launches Free Developer Version of the Container Security Suite

SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(Marketwired – Feb 17, 2016) – Twistlock, the leading provider of container security solutions, today announced that it has released a free version of its signature Container Security Suite that is aimed at helping individual developers and small organizations to quickly obtain secure containerization. The free “Developer’s Edition” is available now; information can be found here.

Many DevOps innovations today are driven by the desire of developers to streamline processes and take their innovations to market more quickly and safely. Containers offer organizations the speed and agility they require to respond to changing business needs. By eliminating cost as a deterrent, Developer’s Edition further enables the rapid adoption of container technologies. This in turn will lead to better and more efficient DevOps implementations across an organization’s entire environment. The free Developer’s Edition is an ideal solution for individual developers or organizations that are just getting started with container technologies.

“Offering the DevOps community a free version of our Container Security Suite will benefit developers and small dev teams that are eager to benefit from the innovation and agility that container technologies offer,” said Dr. Chenxi Wang, chief strategy officer for Twistlock. “For those who have been reluctant to take initial steps because of budget and/or security issues, Developer’s Edition addresses both of those concerns, giving users a frictionless way to experiment with containers without compromising their organization’s security posture.”

The Developer’s Edition is easy to install, is self-servicing and offers much of the same functionality found in Twistlock’s Container Security Suite. Features include:

  • Vulnerability management: Scanning of container images to discover vulnerabilities that may exist in the various layers of the image.
  • Access control: Fine-grained access control capabilities to guard access to Docker commands.
  • Runtime defense: Policy-based protection for production containers.

Developer’s Edition includes open-source threat feeds only and is available without support. The premium Container Security Suite comes with support and enterprise-scale usage, and is powered by proprietary threat feeds, malware scanning and learning-based advanced runtime threat protection. Twistlock’s Container Security Suite, which was announced and released in November, is the only dev-to-production security product available today. The platform has been adopted by many organizations spanning financial services, health care, media, hospitality, consumer technology services and government agencies. Many of these customers have deployed Twistlock in both development and mission-critical production environments, using the software platform to protect live services and valuable customer data in container environments.
