Avesha Announces new AIOPs Product “Smart Scaler” to Reduce Cloud Costs with Industry-first AI/RL powered predictive Auto-Scaling

Smart Scaler uses cutting edge innovations in AI/Reinforcement Learning technology to precisely estimate K8s resource allocations.

Bedford, MA, October 24, 2022 — Avesha, the creator of KubeSlice, an Open Source platform that creates an intelligent application fabric for managing Kubernetes infrastructure and applications, announced the launch of “Smart Scaler”, an industry-first AI/RL powered predictive horizontal pod auto-scaler for Kubernetes.

“At Avesha, we focus every day on how to bring innovative products to organizations to help them with costs and efficiencies. In today’s environment, escalating cloud costs is a growing concern. Companies are raking up huge costs due to lack of predictive capabilities in current autoscaling solutions. The costs balloon with managing unplanned demand. Smart Scaler predicts the demand and precisely scales the pods up or down as needed,” said Raj Nair, CEO and Founder of Avesha.

Smart Scaler first extracts infrastructure performance time series data from a monitoring system like Prometheus. Next, it has a pod estimator feature that estimates the number of pods for a particular workload. The Traffic predictor feature predicts the traffic based on learned patterns. Finally, the RL engine crunches all of this data and continuously optimizes the number of pods.

Smart Scaler is getting a lot of attention from cloud teams in large enterprise customers. Smart Scaler not only reduces costs but aligns with the ESG goals of many companies to reduce the carbon footprint, because at the end of the day, it optimizes the infrastructure use.  It eliminates overprovisioning by almost 70% for some busy workloads, it’s the only predictive HPA available in the market.

“To date, application and cloud operations teams spend a lot of underappreciated effort trying to predict the cost and performance tradeoffs of different settings for autoscaling pods. Solutions like Avesha’s Smart Scaler can offload the heavy lifting of these estimation processes so cloud native engineers can realize just-in-time optimized HPA settings across their Kubernetes application environments.” said Jason English, Principal Analyst at Intellyx.
