Protego Labs and Mode2 to Provide Serverless Security to U.S. Cloud Customers

Strategic Partnership Created as Market Demand for Serverless Accelerates

Baltimore, MD – July 31, 2018 – Protego Labs today announced that it has signed a strategic partnership with Mode2, a cloud native solutions developer, to strengthen the operational security of Mode2’s U.S. customers hosting their serverless environments on Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure.

“Mode2 is quickly bringing serverless into the mainstream by helping companies around the world build and run their serverless infrastructures,” said TJ Gonen, CEO and cofounder, Protego. “The new Mode2 security consulting and engineering services are fully aligned with the Protego offering and will provide organizations with an expert sales and delivery partner specialized in serverless and security.”

Protego works by continuously scanning a company’s serverless infrastructure, including functions, logs, and databases, to help increase the application’s security posture and minimize the attack surface. Using machine-based analysis and deep learning algorithms, Protego builds a model of normal function behavior to effectively detect threats, anomalies, and malicious attacks as they initiate and propagate. Protego also identifies and prevents attacks in real time and provides the “minimum effective dose” of protection in the right place, maximizing your security while minimizing your costs.

“While early in adoption, the speed, modularity, and cost savings benefits of serverless computing offers will galvanize enterprise interest and propel demand,” said Michael Suby, vice president of research, Frost & Sullivan. “However, caution must be applied to avoid undermining serverless benefits with security pitfalls. Lifecycle visibility from development through run-time to uncover application-layer vulnerabilities and pinpoint threatening behaviors combined with efficient remediation will be essential.”

“Protego Labs has developed a product which fills an important need for many organizations who seek the benefits of serverless, but also need to demonstrate additional protection for sensitive workloads,” said Simon Plant, CEO of Mode2. “Protego helps with the customers security responsibilities, delivering tools to more efficiently manage a least-privilege security posture for Serverless services.”

Protego is backed by a group of security industry investors, including Ron Gula of Gula Tech Adventures, Glilot Capital Partners, and former RSA CTO, Tim Belcher. Earlier this year, the company won the Startup Competition for the most innovative cyber initiative at the Cybertech Tel Aviv 2018 Conference.
