Jay Blanchard of Fugro and Flux7 CEO Aater Suleman to Present at DockerCon 16

Bringing a new IOT-Based Service to Market with High Uptime and Portability based on Docker containers and Amazon Web Services

Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 06, 2016

Flux7 today announced Jay Blanchard, Software Systems Engineer at Fugro and Flux7 CEO, Aater Suleman, will present at DockerCon 16 to be held June 19–21, 2016 in Seattle. The talk will focus on how Flux7, an IT consultancy providing cloud architecture and migration services and solutions, helped Fugro bring a new Internet of Things (IoT) based service to market with high uptime and portability, based on Docker containers and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

This is the story of how Fugro, a multinational enterprise which collects and provides highly specialized interpretation of geological data at land and sea, launched a new remote service with Docker as a foundational technology. Specifically, Fugro and consulting partner Flux7 created a solution through AWS and Docker containers providing a high degree of uptime, ensuring data is secure, and enabling portability so the environment can be quickly replicated in new global regions on demand.

“Docker containers allowed us to quickly and easily create microservices for Fugro that serviced its need for constant availability and reliability of service,” said Aater Suleman. “Hosting Dockerized microservices on AWS allows Fugro to dynamically scale individual services to meet demand where and when needed, while making the most efficient use of Amazon EC2 instances.”

“With Docker on AWS, we were able to meet growing customer demand effectively using the technology to evolve our solution in parallel with business needs,” said Jay Blanchard. “Moreover, our new OARS service embraces automation and continuous delivery which speeds our time to market for new features, and ensures high availability. With the deepest levels of security and reliability built into the solution, we are able to extend our industry reputation for dependability, data security and a great ability to deliver on our customer’s feature needs.”

Blanchard and Suleman will share how Docker is being used as a key component in Fugro’s continuous delivery cycle and will also illustrate how Docker is used to create redundancy which ensures high uptime for Fugro’s 24X7 requirements, which is easier said than done when its clients can literally be anywhere in the world.

Mr. Blanchard and Mr. Suleman will speak on Tuesday, June 21 at 1:30pm. The presentation titled, Bringing a new IOT-Based Service to Market with High Uptime and Portability, can be found in Ballroom 6B at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, WA.
